INDICATIONS: St Johns Wort Horizon Caplets promotes a positive mood. It is used by practitioners as the treatment of choice for mild to moderate depression, and is also used as a nerve tonic for anxiety. In a study on 20 randomized trials (some compared Hypericum perforatum to medication, others to a placebo) conducted on outpatients that suffer from mild to moderate depression, it was found that Hypericum perforatum performed better than placebo and was as effective as some standard antidepressants. may inhibit the breakdown of several neurotransmitters, including serotonin, which is partially responsible for controlling moods and emotions.
